I tried to "go back" to briefs and they tried hipsters/boyshorts. I can't stand the VPL and riding up. I don't feel anything wearing a thong. Maybe people are wearing the wrong size.
Or maybe people are wearing the correct size but simply do not like the feeling of a strip of fabric between their butt cheeks. Notice you didn't say "the feeling of a thong doesn't bother me" but rather "I don't feel anything." Well there is something there, and others of us CAN feel it and dont' like it.
Maybe you lack nerve endings in your butt.

There was a national campaign to shame women for it back in the 00s. And it was mostly conducted by women against other women -- men mostly do not care about VPL. It was just a way to police other women for noncompliance with beauty norms, an activity that seemed to reach an all-time peak around 2005/2010.
It's still happening. Just look at the thread in off topic about snobbery. Women policing what other women wear is very much alive and well.
Weird. My tight clothes don’t reveal any VPL. If I wear a silk party dress, I have thin laser cut briefs that don’t show.
There is no reason for me to suffer with a thong.
