I’m pp from further up in the thread. Giving within a member tier is also something we have done at schools our children attend .

$1k-5k for a school that's only about $15k a year. I would pay less, but DH always wants to pay more.

Truly just give whatever you're comfortable giving. The school "Fund" is usually the most important in terms of things you care about as a parent at the school.

Similar - 1-2k per kid and larger give (5k) in graduation year (8th at one school and then 12th at next school)

We give $10K in total per year and the only special treatment we receive is from the ever annoying folks in development.
That said there are some highly suspicious people on the board who obviously bought their seat. Their kid arrives at the school and they miraculously are on the board despite knowing little about the school or education.

We can afford it so we give $10k-20k. We tend to give appreciated stock or donate from our DAF so there are good tax benefits. No special treatment received, from what I can tell (and I acknowledge I may not be able to tell).
