It strikes me as an interesting “Moneyball” style approach. High-stats kids seem to be relatively undervalued these days, and a new school trying to capture that market niche might well find some success that way. Will be interesting to see how it goes

Your approach to truth fits in quite well with the "University of Austin" founders':
University of Chicago -- not the first in Chicago or Cook County, but the first to name itself after Chicago
University of Miami -- first in Miami
University of Detroit -- at time of its founding, the only other college in Detroit was Detroit Medical College, not a general university.
University of Cincinnati - was a merger of Cincinnati College and Medical College of Ohio
University of Pittsburgh - first in Pittsburgh
New York University - 3nd college in NYC, after King's/Columbia and a medical school, College of Physicians and Surgeons
"University of Austin" however, is a tiny school compared to the existing huge, broad spectrum University of Texas at Austin.
Also, all of these schools are over 100 years old.
Actually that's not true. There was another University of Chicago that used that name before the current institution. It failed and then changed names to "The Old University of Chicago" so that the new university could use that name. Robert Todd Lincoln studied law there before it closed though.
Not disagreeing with your overall point though.

When I first heard about it, I was skeptical, but optimistic. There could be a space for a school that really encourages all perspectives. But it turned out that it's in favor of any perspective, as long as it's conservative:

She was shocked when the colleague informed her a recent LinkedIn post of hers—an anodyne post of maybe 100 words, mostly a quotation and congratulation, which she had not given much thought to previously—had gotten her into big trouble with the university higher-ups. In her post, which dealt with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, she wrote that “we can have criticisms of DEI without wanting to tear down the whole concept of diversity and inclusion.”
That ran contrary to at least one funder at the university. As a result, the private post-secondary institution tore up its contract with Avishai’s smaller educational organization, the Mill Institute, severing ties with Avishai and her team the very day she got the call."

They claim to be all about “free thinking” and rail against the establishment, DEI, traditional higher education, etc. I’ve heard of this college but never heard of the CLT (Classic Learning Test) test and didn’t know that was a thing.
I’m guessing CLT is related to Classical Conversations, a curriculum used by many homeschoolers (religion-based, I think).
