My great-uncle (who was at Normandy) used the GI Bill to go to college, eventually getting a PhD and becoming a professor. Before he died a few years ago he made it plain how he felt about Trump - it wasn't positive.

I disagree with his take on Trump but wow- a vet that stormed Normandy. Incredible. I am an Iraq vet and went to Normandy. Stood at Omaha and Utah. These men had to have unbelievable courage. You should be very proud.

But you see it’s not “tough” to want to live in an actual First World Country that prioritizes safety and security so you don’t have to worry about your wife getting thrown on the tracks or sexually assaulted on the Metro.

You cant emulate only parts of what you like to get the same results. You want low violence but wont address economic predictors of violence. You want clean and functioning metro but dont prioritize subsidies for said public transit, nor the limiting of suburban spread, nor the government workers and their salaries that it takes to run, clean, etc the transport. Youll bend over backwards for oil and gas subsidies but god forbid the government encrourage not just green energy but also pay people to make their houses more green and functional so that heating and cooling costs decrease. You dont want mental health care or healthcare for everyone.

Yeah the culture clash of the greatest generation vs their boomer children never happened! I mean the boomers had nothing conservative to rebel against because their parents had already fought for DEI, abolishing borders, and trans rights!

And yet, the Greatest Generation came home from the war and adopted a more permissive parenting style. Dr. Spock was a huge bestseller during that era. If they were really that conservative, they would have continued raising their kids with the stick.
