Sure, but it would still be helpful to hear from parents who've been through it (especially ones who know at least a little Spanish themselves) what gets covered in Spanish 1 and what's needed to be ready to succeed in Spanish 2. That can give a sense of whether the kid is there already or could get there with a little additional effort, or if they're far enough short of it there's no point.


I don’t think there is a core curriculum and it’s up to the teacher. We found Spanish very
difficult and eventually got a tutor.
