Anyway, I watched the first two episodes, and I have not gone back. I love Jason Bateman (and I also like Jude Law), and I want to love this, but so far, I haven't been hooked. I'm willing to give it another try, though.

I think that's the idea. It's supposed to be distressing that these dumb losers have so much leverage over Vince because Vince is such a screw up.

Watched all of Black Rabbit and thought Jude Law was great (even though his character was very much like the amazing British character he played in The Nest).

Jason Bateman was miscast. A stronger actor (e.g., Ben Mendelsohn or Christoph Walz) coud have made it more interesting, perhaps?

I absolutely agree with pp that switching the roles would have made this show much more electric.


Walz? That would have been wrong, as good as Walz is.

I thought Bateman was very good. Every scene with Bateman and Law was intense.

I’m halfway through Black Rabbit now. It’s very well done, and all the acting is top notch. Disagree that Jason Bateman is miscast - I love his manic energy and I think he nails the “means well but is a continual screw up” vibe. I found Jude Law’s accent distracting, as it’s a weird combination of British and New York. My biggest gripe is that it seems unrelentingly grim - you can see the train wrecks coming and it makes a tough watch over eight episodes.

DH and I also loved it. The cast was great. Although I didn’t like Jude Law’s character, he himself did an amazing job.
