I personally wouldn’t play for National Guard. They have different requirements, obligations and they aren’t hiding their faces.

Call your Congress people. There's an app called 5 calls that uses your location to provide you with the phone numbers of your elected people in Congress.
If they are on your side, support them. If not, they may not change their minds but if you speak rationally who's to say you might not plant a seed in a young staffer's mind? Emphasize that whatever policies they support, the must be executed lawfully.
Google Indivisible and check out the local organization, or League of Women Voters, or whatever. Donate to candidates/parties you support. Donate to the AP. Promote responsible statements and actions among those you know.
The Indivisible group I am involved with (actually started by a VA physician) uses signal chat groups. Because in any group, there are people who are susceptible to biased "news" and rumors, I started a fact-check chat in our group to intervene when something that is not true gets posted.

Be fact-focused but also pay close attention to things that are simply dangerous. Pam Bondi saying they are going to go after "hate speech" (under what statute????) is dangerous--regardless of whether anyone has been arrested or imprisoned. Besides which, we know that there are groups in the right which are organized to ferret out and report people for what they say, and they are far more vigorous and distributed than the left, because they really are motivated to denounce people.

Go to Indivisible website, plug in your zip code and you will find a grassroots group within a few miles. Reach out, attend a meeting, join a protest, offer to help.
