99% right. There will be a very few exceptions, which mostly will be kids with special needs.

Basically this. They’ll pick up bruh skibidy at school whether they have access to it themselves or not. And will spend the rest of their lives making decisions based on the values they learned at home. Now’s the time to practice and reinforce those, not remove your kid from his peers. Yes, it’s hard.

Wut do scooters have to do with the price of beans

You won't even find kids like this in 100-year-old novels. Maybe you should not have had kids.

It's true. I was reading short story today that was not a hundred years old, but close, and it had essentially the same complaints about the results of "the freedom of the modern child," kids climbing on furniture, running and shouting, ignoring grown-ups. It could have been written by a DCUM poster.

Not a bad strategy at all.

Often what happens is the younger siblings pick up on “middle school-y” behavior earlier (too early) due to being around older siblings. And age 8-9 would be about the right age for this, given siblings are often a few years older.

My gosh have I noticed this with my DD8 bestie. She is the youngest of three and wow, the middle schoolesque behavior is off the charts. It's so off-putting. And so incredibly rude and uncute. I don't want my kid around her these days sadly. Luckily they're not in the same school.

OP, you are very judgmental. Good luck finding kids whose parents let their kids play with your precious. Not every kid has the same home life, but as long as it’s not violence, let kids express themselves. Instead of judging, you could kindly correct any bad manners while they are in your home. Stop acting superior. Your husband is right about you.
