I think he got a good education.
I used to try to talk to him about racism and he thought I was over reacting… it’s not the 60’s anymore.
Going down south you are literally gonna see it face-to-face kids using the n words on the daily. People making racist and insane remarks..
So I’d say the best education my kid got out of the south was that yes racism exist.
I have two kids going to top 20 schools south of the Mason Dixon line. And not once have they heard white kids use the N word. That's just not done among 18 year olds today. I'd say most southern schools are far less racist than the New England schools.

What?
I’m a Yankee living in the South. Lots I don’t like.
But number of times I (or my kids) have heard the n word? Zero.
I guess it depends on where you are. I'm a Southerner and I heard it A LOT growing up in the 2000s. I still hear it sometimes when I'm home.

Your kid isn't going to be hearing kids at 'Bama using the n word on the daily unless he's a black kid on the football team and they're allowed to. You're stereotyping and exaggerating.

What is right. I am from the South. I went to college in Boston. I have never lived anywhere so racist as Boston. The South couldn't compete if it tried.

He is in the Blount Scholars program, a cohort within the Honors College. It is run by a U Chicago PhD who is fabulous, Dr. Whiting.
Other options are Bama include Witt Fellows and Randall Research Scholars.

Because you could spend $300k+ going to some northern SLAC where the weather is cold and gray, the women are LGBTQ+, the men are trans (except for the lacrosse team), the students are socialists, and everyone is miserable.
Or you could save the dough, have a great experience, and be happy in normal in the southern sunshine.
The choice is yours. Roll Tide!

Because for one it is run by Republicans what do you not understand about that?
In 2028 there will be no buying a house in any state. Do you not know how to read?
Do you not understand what Republicans have done to the state of Alabama?
Do you not understand what SCOTUS has done today?
You want your kid living in a state that has the worst public schools in the country. Zero help for any storm from the government or the state.
Voters voted in Tommy Tuberville, an idiot who doesn't even reside there.
The economy in Alabama is about automotive manufacturing and Aerospace. Auto manufacturing no one is building new factories in this economy or the economy that is coming, which will be a great depression. What will happen in these factories is kids will now be able to work for pennies on the $ ,ie Project 2025. You didn't read Project 2025 did you???
Aerospace, you think Trump the criminal is going to have his administration bring money to Alabama for that??? No by 2026 Trump will have raided all of the US treasury. Aeorspace is not getting more money from Trump's adminstraiton if you believe that you have not paid attention.
Bottom line paying monies to go to the University of Alabama at this point in time a state that takes federal blue $ to even exist is just beyond stupid.
On the upside, OP, your DC is unlikely to run into this poster at the University of Alabama.

I mean, I don't agree with much of this, but it IS kinda funny.
It's only funny because it's at least partially true. And everyone knows that.
