Drug Trafficking in U.S. Special Forces: Journalist Seth Harp on ‘The Fort Bragg Cartel’.
President Trump recently threatened to use U.S. special forces to fight drug cartels in Mexico. But New America Fellow Seth Harp found that members of the U.S. military elite that Trump wants to deploy have actually collaborated with cartels in narco-trafficking schemes. In his debut book The Fort Bragg Cartel: Drug Trafficking and Murder in the Special Forces, out today, Harp investigates a string of unsolved murders at America’s premier special operations base and uncovers its connection to drug trafficking, fueled by a culture of cover-ups and corruption
Bail denied for ex-Army Ranger accused of trafficking guns for Mexican cartel
A former Army Ranger from San Antonio accused of supplying one of Mexico’s drug cartels with hundreds of high-powered firearms and tens of thousands of bullets will remain in jail
Did Former U.S. Special Operators Train a Cartel’s Kill Squad?
A former Delta Force soldier and two SEALs are accused of training Jalisco Cartel’s paramilitary force spent some time talking to Pierre Rausini, a convicted drug trafficker who recently wrapped up two decades in custody. Rausini made some waves a few weeks ago when he dropped a startling claim on a podcast about four former U.S. special operators working for a Mexican cartel.
According to Rausini, a former Delta Force soldier, two ex-Navy SEALs, and a veteran of the 75th Ranger Regiment have helped train the New Generation Jalisco Cartel’s paramilitary wing for years. These former U.S. special operators oversee several hundred ex-soldiers, primarily from Mexico and Central America.
“The paramilitary wing of Jalisco is their pride and joy,” Rausini told me. “Given the level of professional…

Obama's drone strikes were definitely problematic legally, but on the other hand they were directly related to a shooting war.
Al Qaeda and ISIS had military and political goals. I don't see that as the case with purely criminal drug gangs.
I'm not sure I see much of a difference between Islamic terrorists and Narco terrorists. They both bring death.
And the cartels are as vile and evil as ISIS. The way the cartels torture people is probably even worse than the Islamic extremists. These cartels are serious organizations. And they should be taken seriously.
If the intelligence was good, I think the US Navy did the world a favor taking out these Venezuelan drug traffickers. And I suspect at least 80 percent of Americans would support using our military to hit cartels. I don't think people in Bethesda or Alexandria realize how devastating drugs have been to other communities - both urban and small town America. We are losing more than 100,000 people a year because of people like these Venezuelans. Killing eleven of them probably saved the lives of hundreds of Americans who didn't OD on their crap.

You don’t think our own military has its own boats or aircraft that can match a shitty third world hot rodded speedboat?
If we don’t, then the military should be defunded altogether. Because I’m pretty sure anyone on this discussion forum could buy a boat that was essentially the same thing the smugglers were using for a couple hundred thousand dollars or so.
If we can afford 1.5 billion dollar stealth bombers and 10 billion dollar aircraft carriers, why wouldn’t we have $200,000 speed boats?
We are the imperial power, like it or not. We've been successfully stopping boats like this for years. Of course we have better boats than they do.
