I've had very good experiences with VHC. I've been a LOT in the past year due to a cancer diagnosis. I was mostly treated off site, but did a lot of the accessory testing and imaging at VHC. I do think some of the billing is ridiculous (I had a CT scan and was charged 2 co-pays because each section of my body was considered a different appointment?) but I will also say I don't have another system to compare it to. So far, all my billing has been straightforward.

The outpatient pavilion is beautiful and brand new. I've done lots of imagining there over the last year so I've seen almost every part of those areas. But I will say, I am new to having a PCP so I guess I'll find out how I like having one affiliated with VHC.

Most of the other emergency rooms near me are level 1 trauma centers in addition to having higher volume of other patients . People generally don’t get to choose where they are taken in an emergency. But I was able to choose and I picked VHC specifically because I knew i wouldn’t have to wait as long to be seen. I don’t know that it necessarily says anything about the quality of care; they found out that I was having a stroke.

My experience with VHC primary care has been fine. My doctor has a great reputation in the local medical community and I know of multiple highly-regarded doctors who are among his patients. He's never ordered an unnecessary test, and the referrals he's given me have been excellent (my dermatologist and ophthalmologist are outside of the VHC system, and my doctor sends me to the best doctors he knows rather than just inside VHC).

Prior to my current doctor I had a perfectly awful doctor who rented space at VHC but was not actually part of VHC primary care. He was doing his own blood draws and charging them as physician visits, and once forced my wife to come into the office to read her a report that a mass he had imaged was benign (and charged it as a physician visit, of course). Two of the specialists I've seen were at VHC and were great, and my kids' pediatrics practice is also at VHC but not part of their pediatrics branch (which I understand is only for low-income families). My wife's experience in maternity was good--no frills, but no major issues.

The rudest people you will ever meet work at vhc.

That's insurance, that's not the practice.
There is a difference between an annual "well visit" check up/physical and a "sick" or cause visit. My doctor (private practice not at VHC) allows maybe one new issue per annual physical and anything else you have to come back.

That's just not true thats only at the dermatologist they can only deal with 1-3 small things.

☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️ This exactly!!! They have their agenda and screw yours! They dont deal with any issues you bring to them. Curious PP what referrals did they send you off with? I got some random vein clinic like what?

Bone density test. The one they recommend for 65 and older. I am mid 40’s.

I got the bone density test and am well below 65. The tests picked up that I already have a problem so I'm glad I didn't wait that long. Maybe they recommended this test because of medications you're taking, or family history or pre-existing conditions. Did you ask them why?

There was no issue in my history. They just give me a list of tests/procedures each annual visit. Like they get a kickback for every referral.

No one likes VHC not even other doctors. I had one doctor ask me why I went there.

The physician assistant in the ER picked up my serious blood clots straight away.

I'm grateful because I've read so many stories from other people (or their surviving relatives) who were misdiagnosed at other hospitals around the US and other countries.
