I shop at the Tyson’s Wegmans which is a smaller one. There are a few things I can’t get there but overall I love it. Checkout staff are great and I am not overly price conscious but I feel like I get out with spending less than I would at Giant for a similar selection of items.

It did take me a little while to get used to.

I hate the wegmans layout. You have to go to too many isles to see all the things. Pasta? Go to the Italian or Asian or Indian isle. They are all different.

Maybe try a different location. The one in Columbia is amazing.

Or stick to what works for you... Giant.

I love the flower section at Wegmans. Always fresh and healthy. I almost always pick up the huge bunch of roses. And they have great houseplants too.

Love Wegmans, but there are pros and cons. Pro: produce, bakery items, cheese and other gourmet offerings. Con - insanely busy, tends to be understocked on weekends, and my biggest gripe is not enough selection of national brands since they push you to the store brand. Don't get me wrong - store brand is often very good, but there are many times I want a specific brand it it just isn't available there. YMMV.

Huh? They do offer this service via Instacart.

Instacart for delivery, but they have their own in house shopping in the app and on the website.

OP here. Thanks for the suggestions. It may just take some getting used to.

To answer a couple of questions. We were trying to get away from WF, not only because of Bezos but because the quality has gone down. It still seems better than other grocery stores. I do like the fish counter at Wegman's and as I mentioned in my original post the fact that they carry turkey breasts that i can roast and make sandwiches out of. I will need to take a closer look at the bakery section.

I don't love Giant either but if I'm going over there I like to be able to get my preferred TP or toothpaste.

FTR, unless I am out that direction for other reasons, I'm not making a special trip to Germantown or Fairfax.

Yeah but it’s not rotten.

Right, this is key! I used to feel it was expensive, but I was throwing out lots of produce without using because it was rotten the day after I purchased it, or oddly rotten on the inside but looked great on the outside. That rarely if ever happens at Wegmans.

Another vote for Wegmans brand products - everyone in the family is happy and some products (e.g., their protein granola bars) are preferred in our house. Not the case at Giant or Safeway.

+1
Yeah I'm not seeing the downside that most of their offerings are Wegman's brand, since it's excellent.
Kombucha, pasta, sauces, basting oil, bread, cheese, cereals and grains and legumes, all good.

What I love about Wegman's:
The produce is excellent and they carry a huge variety.
We like quite a few of their house brand products and they are much cheaper than the name brand products.
The staff is super helpful and friendly.

Try Tyson’s, germantown or lanham, depending on where you live.

Wegmans is a staple for us for premarinated chicken breasts, lunch meat, bottled Asian stir fry sauces, wing sauce, etc. their deli also has a very good selection of things like prosciutto, cheeses, and pizza toppings. Their produce and fruit is very hit and miss, and frustratingly unreliable.

I would think convienece should be the deciding factor between wegmans or Whole Foods. I like both and feel like you can get 90% of your grocery shopping done at either.

I really dislike the giant and Safeway by us, but I have been in giants that are better.

Grocery shopping is very frustrating in the dmv, there’s no single store you can rely on.

They def offer a shopping service. I work near one (but live far away) and I often have my groceries delivered to my trunk on my way home on Fridays.
