This is a serious issue. You cannot swim when they are in the water.
This is only an issue - and it’s a serious one - for Oahu. Not a problem on Maui at all.

How did you find the parking/traffic in Waikiki with the car rental? Any issues?
For parking, just pay whatever the fee is at your hotel. Traffic is bad at he rush hours.

Some of the hotels I’m seeing online seem like they have a tiny strip of sand in front of the hotel, and I’m imagining those small spaces get super crowded. Part of my dream is to lounge and relax on the beach.
I’m not DCUM rich, so no Four Seasons or anything!
Hyatt Resort and Spa is beachfront to a nice public beach in Oahu. You can check beach chairs out from their pool and take them to the beach. You can also rent your own umbrellas from stores nearby.

I’ve been to Hawaii dozens of times and I think this is a pretty ignorant take.
