Kids soccer is an expense not an investment. You are not acquiring an asset. There is no return on investment any more than you would get a return on your money spent on a vacation or a Taylor Swift concert. There is a perceived value for all of them but it's highly individual. Who are you to decide what I spend my $5k on?
