She already said just a test.
No she didn’t. She said that at the last test, the doctor discussed the likely condition with her DH and that this appointment is to have a ct scan to confirm the suspected diagnosis and to discuss next steps.
So if OP doesn’t go, she will have missed the initial testing, the discussion of those results and a tentative diagnosis, the confirmation testing, the confirmed diagnosis and the discussion of next steps.

Hmm, I get the dilemma. It's not like you are missing surgery, but if you attend the presentation it will absoultely reflect where you place your value. I would try seeing if they have any other options for the appoinment. Patients cancel all the time. Ask to be placed on the list for cancelations in case something opens.

This really depends on what the heart defect is. If your child was living normally with it and the only difference is that you are now aware, you should do the presentation and take a differently timed appointment.
If your child is actually acutely ill, then prioritize the fastest possible care.

I would send my husband and do the presentation. If it was the actual surgery, I would want to be there. My kid just had a serious surgery and only I was there. We tend to mostly divide and conquer because with 3 kids, there is a lot of stuff to do

Like the others said. Do the presentation, be there for the discussion with the doctor after the CAT scan. Send son with Dad for the scan.
Both my kids have significant health problems, as does DH. And now I do too. I couldn't possibly work full time if I tried to be there for every test. But I am there for the important discussions because DH is hopeless on understanding medical conditions.

Don’t know where you’re located but I got an appointment recent within a few days for a cardiac CT scan at Adventist Imaging in Silver Spring.
We also used Children’s for my son’s cardiac care. PP is right that they take forever unless you use a satellite office.
