How selfish. Why didn’t she adopt?!

I thought the same thing, PP. Why not adopt or even do foster care with an older child. To each her own but this sounds absolutely exhausting.

Lol. Sounds like a ‘you need to get out more’ problem to me. Ask your ob/gyn next time. Or your local Planned Parenthood.

I'm not that PP, but here's the thing: women who WANT to become pregnant at those ages are guaranteed heartbreak unless a miracle happens. It hasn't happened for me.

Also, you're not understanding the difference every year makes in your 40s. The chances of a natural, viable, pregnancy in your early 40s is slim but still possible. In your late 40s, it's not happening unless you're doing donor eggs and IVF, and even then, the chances are very low.

The story of someone's Grandma who had their last child at 48 before the days of IVF is the PROOF that it hardly ever happens. Because you can't cite anyone of that age whom you know personally, and who did this naturally without a younger egg and medical intervention.

The medical statistics are well-nigh impossible for anyone who is 48 and wants their own biological child. Don't kid yourself.

You'd have to look at the abortion rate for this group too to get a fuller picture. My gynecologist has said she sees it not that infrequently. 48 year olds with kids in college get pregnant thinking they can't, but many (most?) Of those people will not want to continue a pregnancy even if biologically feasible.

Because mothers and fathers are not the same. This is news to you?

Some people are just built differently. My grandmother had her kids at 46 and 49 in the 50s, so obviously no IVF. None of the women on that side of the family hit menopause til closer to 60 and there's a long history of living to over 100 which is supposedly related.

58 just skipped 3 periods (yay! Finally!) so yes many late menopausal women.

This can't possibly be true, right? She has a history of at least 6 miscarriages and decades of trying. She's claiming she's using her own eggs at 48 and carrying to term? WTF?

My Aunt got pregnant at 47 naturally after acupuncture (not even trying, thought menopause). Her lovely daughter just married recently. Miracle beloved child.

I’ve seen plenty of women in their 40s have babies. My grandmother had a baby at 46. I don’t know if they froze their eggs earlier but a lot of celebrities have also had babies at that age. I remember an interview with Halle Berry where she said she thought she was menopausal when she got pregnant with her son at 47.

She will be 66 or 67 when the kid goes to college. I mean sure it’s “close to 70” but saying “66 or 67” is less hyperbolic.

I believe Kelly Preston (John Travolta) had a baby at 48 after the loss of their first son. She never disclosed whether she used her own eggs. Not sure if Scientology has a rule about that.

My high school classmate/college roommate just had a baby a few months ago. She is 51. Her husband is 56.
I have no idea if they used IVF or IUI, or what-but I have no doubt the baby is biologically hers because he looks EXACTLY like her brother.

Weirder things have happened. I was still getting periods regularly at 47. A very good friend of mine delivered at 45 naturally - her daughter is great now at 15. I mean I really think it's highly improbable this will work out for her ultimately, but not impossible. As well, I do not buy into the notion that most kids post age 40 delivery are somehow not going to be normal kids. A lot of my friends incl myself delivered at 40 and those whose kids were 40+ are fine.
