I agree. Button down shirt and nice pants (khakis, navy blue etc). No suit or tie.
Totally disagree. Button down shirt and navy blue pants? That's what a kid wears to Thanksgiving dinner! Not a wedding.

I absolutely LOVE this. Kids provide levity to weddings and should be allowed to be whimsically dressed!

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. Truly. That poor child looks like a damn chimney sweep.

Yeah, it looks louche.
And it looks like the parents couldn't be bothered.
There’s probably truth to that - I wouldn’t be bothered to buy a kid a suit jacket just to please someone like you. The bride, groom and young people in attendance will not care.
Why is what a child wears less significant than how the adults dress?

Anonymous wrote:Yes, a vest and matching dress pants and a nice shirt would be fine. I’d add a tie. No jacket needed for a 7 year old.

It’s not about getting away with anything. It is about looking appropriate but modern. Kids in a suit look stuffy and old fashioned.
Totally disagree that suits look old fashioned or stuffy on little boys. They look FORMAL, which is what this wedding is. So any little boy in a suit would look appropriate.
