I think what you are seeing is a shift in the dating culture. The US is becoming more like the Iceland, Norway, etc. There men and women are seen as equal and it is reflected in the dating culture and male/female interaction. Men and women equally ask each other out, split the bill, make the first move, etc. Women in the US are caught in this culture shift, do not like it and complain about it. This shift is also reflected in salaries. Women and men 22 to about 33 make the same amount with women actually earning more in urban areas. These areas where women are complaining the most is in urban areas.


In a few years everyone will adjust to the new reality. This will favor some women/men over others just like the old dating culture did.

Finding a man becomes exponentially harder once one doesn’t need one, like me.

It was easy to find a husband when I needed one to have a family (or, perceived that I did due to societal expectations to marry before procreating).

I don’t need one for anything anymore- they’re great because sure with with someone amazing is better than solo- but bad sex is way worse than solo sex, and a bad relationship or the burden of carrying a man’s emotional and social load just isn’t one I’m interested in undertaking again.

Men had an upside before to offset all that is ungainly about them. But once one doesn’t need a man financially or socially : the ROI is exceedingly low.
