She is an unproblematic celebrity with a wholesome backstory (she got famous by winning a talent competition, not making a naughty video.) Anonymous strangers on the internet feel sad that a bad thing has happened to a person who for the most part seems good and decent. It's not that complicated or weird.

Her children are half-siblings to Blackstock’s kids from his first marriage, not steps. Blood relatives.

If she considers the step kids her kids despite the divorce, then sure - she’s a grandma.
That’s her decision, though. It isn’t an obligation after a divorce.
Her children are step siblings to the children from his previous marriage, so that is another level of tie, of course.

The reality is it doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense to you. The owner of the site gets to set his own rules, and this is the rule he's set. If your heart burns with desire to talk smack about him right away, I bet you could start a thread on Reddit about him.
