It's a very dangerous thing at this stage of neurological development. I think the parents that let this slide are completely nuts. And basically guilty of child abuse. You are changing their brain development by letting this slide.
OP: That's a little strong considering I just figured this out. I also don't think he's "lost into weed" at this point - he's a basketball player and an A student. But I completely agree it's dangerous. Trying to figure out the best way to intervene, especially bc he doesn't know that I know.
You’re fooling yourself if you think this is too strong. You intervene swiftly and without hesitation. This is SERIOUS!
I smoked weed almost every day of 11th and 12th grade, and I went to Harvard.
I'm generally an anxious person, and I put a lot of pressure on myself. I have always struggled with insomnia, and weed helped me to relax and enabled me to relax and sleep better at that time. Frankly, I think it was healthier than the myriad of prescription drugs my friends were prescribed.
It isn't crack.

OP: I think this is my current plan. But not homeschooling. Lord no. By the end of that, I'll be smoking week along with him.
OP out of every idea here, this was the worst one. He isn’t going to give two craps what a doctor says and you are projecting parenting onto someone else. Put your foot down. Get him tested. Make form consequences. Stick to it.
