Don’t do it. I’m a math teacher who did that and 27 years in. You can always switch to teaching later. If you are a math/cs major, get a different job first. Do not go into teaching right away. After years of teaching it will be extremely difficult to leave if you change your mind. But the opposite is not true. If you get a job in math or computer science you will make a lot more money and you can slash switch to teaching later. Learn from my mistake!

Thank you. The humblebragging makes me ill. But this is the college thread, so what should I expect.

Folks, let’s tone it down a bit and only report jobs/salaries <100k.

75k and we’re happy. Really glad for the AI whiz kids too who are making bank out of school. Life is a marathon not a sprint and where you start is not where you finish.

Hallelujah. Finally some people whose kids are in normal jobs coming out of college. Congratulations to your kids on landing a job. Best of luck to them.

Well, my company regularly receives thousands of applications for entry level positions that pay $55k, many from top schools.

Well, you chose this career path because you didn’t care about money that much.

Seriously, that is what you say to a young person feeling insecure because their righteous work is underpaid and undervalued in this country?

Young person: this country needs people like you. It is my fervent hope that someday the work of teachers and helping professionals will be more valued. Ignore the so called "grownups" on this board who seek prestige and status in the form of low admit schools, SAT scores, and money. That is not all there is to life. Best wishes.

Relax! No idea how someone could be offended by that kind of comment. It was obviously stating the fact that PP didn’t care about money which didn’t have any negative connotation. It was simply an observation, not a judgment. Let’s try to assume good intent and keep things in perspective.

Would be interested to see outcomes after all the stress kids and parents (emphasis on latter) go through when it comes to getting into college

And I'm sure everyone else's kid is in a top group at Goldman or a premier hedge fund or MBB or whatever else. Because no one is average at DCUM - it is where only the 0.1% gather.

I’m the MIT parent in this thread and I’m not the OP, neither did I mention my kids doing AI before. If you take this as a brag, so be it. It’s not gonna bother me.
