Duke is doubling incoming class at last minute, but will be forced quads for all. Yeehaw!

Does this suggest a large number of students that were going to attend Duke have since been accepted off other waitlists and made a switch, thus opening up more spots at Duke?

This year does seem unlike any other, probably due to so much uncertainty for international students.

This is incorrect. Many schools will refund tuition before the first week of classes ends.

Yes, international students had various deadlines for getting visas processed. For some schools it was 7/31. This is exactly when I'd expect waitlist movement to happen.
