My friend is currently pregnant, getting married just four weeks after her due date. It’s a typical wedding, too, at a typical venue with dancing and everything else you’d expect. Can you imagine being 3-4 weeks PP and doing this, let alone 4 weeks post-abdominal surgery?

I was in a wedding 5-6 weeks after my second and had a great time dancing but felt what I think was prolapse later that night. It resolved but I remember feeling panicky and vulnerable.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding five weeks after a csection and giving birth to twins. It was fine.

Your friend may be fine or they may be exhausted. Neither gets better by having other people tell you how hard it will be.

How old is she? I had my first at 28, and I would've been good to go. But my 2nd was a c-section and I was 34; that recovery was different, and my nipples were still burning from breastfeeding. I could've made it work, but it would've sucked.

Exactly! Think of the weeks/days leading up to your own wedding. Now imagine being postpartum with a uterus that’s still shrinking, possibly still bleeding, definitely still leaking milk. Are you at all interested in sitting to get your nails done? Final dress fittings? Having your hair done? The prospect of a LOOONG day where you are the focal point and have to be “on”? All while also having to ten to a newborn who is only a couple weeks old?

I get it, you lose your deposit. That’s the price of doing business, I guess. But I can’t imagine a greater hell. Is at minimum be trying to bump it up to a month or two before the baby comes. Even then I wouldn’t be interested in a wedding, though. I was sicker than a dog, swollen, heartburn, and on bed rest.

Not everyone is a high strung bridezilla. If everything is planned in advance it's totally doable.

Forget high strung bridezilla, she's going to have a baby attached to her boob every 3-4 hours, with very little sleep. Not ideal for your WEDDING.

Sounds nuts but it takes all kinds. The worst part is going to be the dress - it can't be well-fitted with so much changing at that stage and she probably won't be happy with her figure then anyway. Empire waist and keep it moving, I guess.

I had a CD section and was back to pre-order birth weight after a week a month before my 35th birthday. How old is your friend + is she generally in shape OP? Five weeks is a lifetime.
