When i was in law school 35 years ago, my contracts professor told us that by the time we finished first year we would never allow our kids to go to an amusement park.

Six Flags was shockingly dumpy when we went. Especially after having just gone to Hershey. It's been hollowed out by PE overlords who just need to cut costs to help service the debt.

I heard earlier this morning it was a medical emergency. It was the wave pool and he didn’t drown.

Having said that, some of you have a high bar. I don’t like amusement parks but six flags and Hershey are not dumps. Went to both last year and both were very clean and well run. Lifeguards were on point scanning constantly.

Your comment has no empathy for the drowning of this child who, appears to have suffered a seizure a very unfortunate accident and tragedy.

It may have peaked in 1995, but it's still a whole lot nicer than anything else but Disney.

What has changed since 1995 is that every single other amusement park (besides Disney) has been sold to private-equity... staff has been cut, cleanliness has been cut, investment in new features has been cut and prices have gone up.

Hershey chugs along, has added some pretty major new coasters, often looks to be overstaffed, is remarkably clean, etc... because it's owned by the company which is owned by the Milton Hershey School. It can't be sold, and as long as it makes the school money, they'll keep it going and keep investing in it.


SP, Disney is the other exception. Which is why it also is so nice. Because it's a business that makes money by trying to be the best, not by getting bought out and cutting costs to service debt.

One of my children has childhood epilepsy. We were told to never let them out of our sight in a bathtub, pool, etc. This could’ve been the child’s first seizure but gosh, this is just heartbreaking all around.
