There are plenty of other kids who want to be there and would be happy to take your place.

But the people who complain still go. Why? Because it is clearly special and important to their kids.
It’s a weird humble brag. Like oh sure my kid always makes ias and we can’t decide if we can be bothered to attend. Yes there is definitely a set of kids who always makes it. It’s probably not as special for them. But for the kids on the bubble who make it a couple times in their swim career it’s really super exciting. The swim times don’t really matter. It’s all about the experience.
I think you mistook my post. It was not at all a brag, humble or otherwise. There are posters who say things like "The water will be hot, the pool will be slow, it’s not very deep, and the weather is almost always hot. It’s terrible! Rarely do people swim their best times, or at least in my family. Divisionals is the way to end the season."
Then poster I responded to said "But if you don’t want to go, don’t go. There are plenty of other kids who want to be there and would be happy to take your place"
and I agreed adding that most of the complainers will also still go because while the pooh pooh it, for most kids including those of the complainers, whether they make it 1 year or every year they still enjoy.

The Thai place is solid, we have not tried the new sushi place. Glory Days is Glory Days. There is also a Starbucks. Some good options for a nice meal in the AC and then walk over to the Giant to refill on cold drinks.

Completely agree. The water will be hot, the pool will be slow, it’s not very deep, and the weather is almost always hot.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:also NVSL moves a week later next year. All stars will be so late, as will divisionals. Thanks FCPS!
I just looked up the calendar. Why did NVSL move later? Time trials not until 6/13 and IAS on 8/1. Ugh.
Maybe because last day of school will be 6/17 for some county like Fcps?
Anonymous wrote:You should totally skip it. It’s even worse than ASR. Kid can still say they made All Stars without actually suffering through the meet.
