After she walked away the husband had that Ben Affleck meme expression, while he hit an e-cigarette, which made me and my husband quietly chuckle, while also feeling bad for him.

That was my thought too. I would never yell at him in public, but I'm thinking about how I feel sometimes when I've been getting the kids ready for some sporting event, I've read all the info about the event so I know how to get there and where to park and what to bring, done check in and our required volunteer activity, am engaged with the kids and other parents, and my husband has wandered off the catch Pokemon in his phone.
I've never snapped but I have fantasized about it.

Certainly possible. This was me and my xH
But not travel sports -- just every. single. possible. child-centric. moment, e.g. 5 yr old is blowing out candles on his birthday cake. Dad is .... scrolling. Checking fantasy league. etc. Can't engage convincingly for 120 seconds with his child because 5 year olds are boring, or something.

Functional is quiet. Dysfunctional is loud. Just because bad behavior is visible and not loudly commented upon doesn’t mean bad behavior people don’t suffer consequences.
? There are plenty of horrible things said that are quiet. Quiet is not always functional. Nor is loud always dysfunctional.

Why did these women even get married?
They’re doing the best they can. They want kids and a family. They don’t know how to create the loving one that they want.
