Your DH will find a good job soon. The economy is strong.

“He's six. The diarrhea is so watery that it feels like he needs to "pass gas" but it's not gas.”

Feel free to tell your little boy that the EXACT same thing happened to this 42 yo dad this week.

OP here - I'm so sorry this happened to you! It happened to me too on Thursday!!!

lol! It’s horrible, isn’t it? The last time I did that I was at a bachelor party in Vegas and ate way too many oysters at the buffet. The time before that, potty training.

You all will be alright. If everyone on the camping trip washes hands thoroughly, they’ll be ok. If he gets it, he can leave early.

Good luck with the job search.

There are lots of confusing things about OP's post: first, DH was laid off, but yet he's doing overnight shifts at work? Secondly, no elderly person in skilled nursing would go to an overnight camping trip. OP is one very bored person to continue on this fictional thread.

OP here, he's six. No disabilities or developmental issues or other medical issues. I have Crohns Disease and had to take immunosuppressants during pregnancy so his immune system is a little whacky and he's not vaccinated for rotavirus. He's vaccinated for COVID but i don't think he has updated flu.

This is an ER visit

They will just tell me it’s gastroenteritis, test for flu and COVID and to drink fluids because he’s keeping water down. My neighbor is a nurse and said if he’s peeing 2x in 24 hours and holding down fluids he doesn’t need the ER.

Ok, how old Is your child? if they are having that massive of diarrhea why haven't they been to the ER. Pooping in the bed, even when sick is not normal.

OP here, thank you. DH took the night shift last night but failed to check DS and left early this morning. DS pooped the bed again, so I had to strip the sheets and put him promptly in the bath. DH of course didn't answer his phone when I called him to ask why the F he did not check DS.

DS is not vaccinated for Rotavirus, not by my choice but medical necessity, he could not have live vaccines in his first year of life. I'm going to ask his pediatrician for a stool sample.

DH took one day off work to help. He hasn't done a single load of laundry, and I've been the one to bleach and clean everything. I'm just so frustrated right now at everything in my life and trying to take care of DS so he doesn't feel the brunt of anything.

he's going. the people who will be most affected by it want him to come. this is how they want to mourn his dad. I would just let that be. If his mom does get sick, don't say you told him so or otherwise guilt him...she easily could get similar bugs in a SNF or from other people. At least she'll have had the time with family to remember her late husband. It doesn't sound like he'd be very helpful if he stayed home anyway. Do a doordash order of things that will help you, including chux pads you can lay on your kid's bed to reduce the need for cleanup, clear gatorade, saltines, etc. Unlimited TV time for both of you. Good cleaning products (note: lysol wipes don't kill norovirus so if it's that you may need plain bleach). New toothbrushes for everyone once this is over. I hope you feel better soon.

You need to be using bleach letting it sit 10 minutes before removing.

He’s going to be the one getting the runs and giving everyone the runs on a goddamn camping trip, while you and your kid get to be sick in the safe confines of your house lol.
