Good grief. She will have options without having to resort to that. The desperation of the place to launch with butts in seats is palpable.

Hats of desperation!

I prefer Kroger or Harris Teeter.

Public bakery department - especially their cookies are better. But, Safeway has the best cookies in the area from grocery stores.

Omg Safeway’s peanut butter cookies are so good.

Call around to other schools to see if they have spots still open, homeschool, or go to public school. That's really all you can do.

Any sense of what might have been the issue? Did you apply only to schools that are very selective? Does your child have learning or behavioral challenges?

If you give more info, people may be able to give you ideas on schools that might have room and be a good fit.

FWIW, we decided to switch DD to private during COVID, in September. I emailed a dozen schools, all of them legitimate and well-respected and within a reasonable distance to us in Bethesda, asking if they had room for a girl in her elementary grade, and 3 did. I’m sure things were different during COVID, but it is possible to find a great school off-cycle.

This is it, OP. Make a list and start calling. Good luck!
