NC State will be an admission and it's a great school to get a job from.However for Football the stadium is no where near campus and a pain in the butt. OOS students are only about 12% which makes it very hard to make friends. Again NC State Eng. jobs, jobs, jobs and centinal campus for the engineers is very nice.

Purdue is not that hard of a get. Definitely a target for OP

Enrollment data is from 2023 and so is salary data, which is why it is noted. If you look closely the ranking is from 2024 as noted and best value ranking is also from 2024.

Purdue's admission data their website is a bit of a mess. Here's the information provided at this year's admitted students day:

Out of 29,043 applications, 3,881 students were admitted, resulting in a 13.3% acceptance rate. The admitted students had an average ACT score of 32.4, SAT score of 1,442, and GPA of 3.9. I believe Purdue accepted fewer students in 2025 due to a significant enrollment miscalculation last year. They apparently over-enrolled by approximately 1,600 students, which likely prompted them to be more conservative with admissions this cycle.

While OP's child has solid stats, I wouldn't consider Purdue a likely or target. The previously reported 46% acceptance rate from 2024 appears to be inaccurate given these new figures. It's also worth noting that out-of-state acceptance rates are typically much lower than in-state rates.

Nah it is absolutely a likely target.

I would say your kid is definitely in at Ohio State, Penn State, and Delaware. I think a good chance at NC State and Clemson. I'm an NC State alum and have relatives who went to Clemson so we compare admission cycles.

The person who suggested SEC schools was valid. Many give very good aid based on scores & GPA.

Our niece is about to start at Notre Dame. I think her SAT was a bit higher, but not much. She was deferred during EA at ND, but accepted during RD. I really think that ND comes down to the essay moreso than the stats. From what I understand, ND is not ranked as high for engineering as they are for the pre-med school kind of majors.

Purdue has 50% acceptance rate for the University overall. 2025 engineering acceptance rate was 34%, but this along with stats below also includes in-state. I think OOS engineering acceptance rate is lower, but it's not published.

Almost all engineering students are admitted EA and Purdue is test preferred, but likely required for engineering. People always cite school acceptance numbers overall, but most large publics admit by major, which is what you need to find. That said, your kid looks solid.
