I'm sure you're aware the issue here isn't mere use of an autopen, but rather misuse of an autopen to misrepresent the decisions of an unelected cabal as those of an impaired president.
“Unelected cabal” 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
It’s called a cabinet, and advisors. Trump has them too. Take off the tinfoil hat.
At least Biden still had enough brain function to know he wasn't capable of performing this job 24/7 and therefore he turned over control to those with fully functioning brains. Trump's ego is too big for him to relinquish any power.
He should not have remained as president if he needed to turn over duties to unelected officials.
Things like pardons are ONLY to be done by the president. If someone else, say Jeff Zients, was making decisions about exactly who was to receive pardons, that is illegal.
You do realize, I hope, that Trump issued a blanket pardon for about 1500 Jan. 6 defendants BECAUSE he couldn't be bothered to learn the details of each case. So while he was aware he issued the blanket pardon, it's not as if he carefully considered each and every case like a normal president would. He signed one executive order granting a blanket pardon, even though some cases were more serious than others. At minimum, he should have not pardoned anyone who caused bodily harm to an LEO. But he did.
So spare me any comparisons to Biden on the issue of pardons.
But Trump made that decision, you said so yourself. The American people have no idea who made Biden’s decisions. That is the problem.
The people who believe that Biden did not make his own decisions are those that consume RW media. Biden had slowed down in his last year in office, mentally and physically, but that doesn't mean that he didn't know what he was doing. I actually heard him speak at the WH in December and while he was longwinded and spoke with a faint voice, he knew what he was saying. He shouldn't have run for office a second time, but not because he was out of it and didn't know what he was doing, but because he lacked the stamina for one of the hardest jobs in the world.
This is when I knew he was totally out of it.
He didn't know what he was doing. Plain and simple.
Speaker Mike Johnson confronted Joe Biden about his decision to halt LNG exports to Europe—only to find that Biden had no idea he had done so.
For four years, the U.S. has effectively been without a president.
According to Johnson, Biden was completely unaware of an executive order he had signed.
After battling Biden's staff for nine weeks just to secure a meeting, Johnson finally got his chance—only to be "ambushed" by Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries upon arrival.
Biden, seemingly confused by the situation, asked the others to leave so he could speak privately with Johnson.
He had no clue what he had signed.

Digital signatures are not the same as auto pen. Digital signatures are the most secure form of signatures.
This is not a technological problem. Do not fall for that shiny object.
Pardons are supposed to be granted by the President and he must know the details of who he is pardoning and what he is pardoning them for. Pardons are not supposed to be granted by the president's staff.
That's what was going on. Unelected staff like Anita Dunn and Neera were writing and granting pardons via the autopen machine. That's why everyone is taking the fifth.
It's not supposed to be an automated process or signature. It's granting a pardon by exception, not as a rule.
