Older kids are more likely to stay for the whole thing, especially if they are swimming two events - they like to watch each other. Younger kids tend to come only for their event. Also we have a few families that have multiple kids swimming in different events & age groups, so they tend to come and stay for the whole thing.

Our team doesn’t have any rules except that you need to be there when it’s time for your warmup. We are in CSL and I think they do an early warmup for everything through butterfly and then a second warmup for IM only. Or maybe it’s fly and IM in the second session. This year I’ve got a kid in every stroke so it’s going to be a long morning. Will probably have my kids sit in the car in the AC during their long breaks. It stinks when IM is your best event because it’s such a long morning out in the heat.

Or you skip the banquet because it always runs late. Paper plate awards take well over an hour, with the bigger awards and coaches gifts coming near the end. All that adds up to a late night during the middle of Champs.

Do you mind sharing which team? Or at least which division if not comfortable?

This is madness. Fire the coach and Team Rep.

When your kid's events are done, go home and rest before end-of-the-year banquet.

Leave after free and come back for fly.

Same events for my DD and that’s our plan!

Mind sharing how close you are to the divisional pool?

We’re about 30 minutes away which is what has me debating it!

We are just 10 minutes away from the host pool so easy for us to go back and forth between the two events.

We are 30-40 minutes from host pool and we have PVS LC Champs at UMd on Friday, so that affected my swimmer’s decision for divisional events.

Is it like an “A meet” where kids must stay for the entire meet?

It looks like it lasts maybe 5-6 hours, is that right?

Does it follow the usual free > back > breast > fly order?

Anything else/tips to share?

This varies by team.

No team will require swimmers to be there longer than necessary.

For A meets though? The PP said their kids have to stay the entire A meet.

No, PP asked if NVSL divisionals was like A meets in terms of required attendance for the duration of the event. NVSL divisionals is not.

Right. I was just saying that varies (required A meet attendance).

No. Arrive whenever breast warm up is, probably around 10 am but check with your division lead.

Thank you this is super helpful! Is there not a general warm up?

There is a larger warm up at the beginning of the meet, but event-specific warm ups before each stroke’s session.
