The West Bank was lost by Jordan as a result of the 6-Day War. Jordan had annexed it in 1950, after the end of the British Mandate. The 6-Day War was precipitated by Egypt, which mobilized on Israel's border, expelled U.N. peacekeepers, moved troops into the Sinai desert, and blockaded the port of Eilat. Jordan had been warned to stay out of the war, and lost the West Bank as a result. Egypt lost the Gaza Strip.

To the victors go the spoils. Don't pick fights with your neighbors. Israel now owns the land it captured, it is Israeli land, Palestinians have no further claim to it, if they ever did.

When in the US, the person is an American citizen. When in the West Bank, they are Palestinian. Dual citizenship comes with costs as well as benefits.

Don’t be an ass. All of these senseless deaths are sad. The Israelis have been given large platforms to share their grief. That won’t happen with this American.
