I am currently retired, but I do two consulting projects per year for a federal government agency. Each project is about 160 hours at $350/hr. That’s my vacation money.

Why be such a wet blanket? Maybe some people like to have a hobby/job in retirement, even if you do not.

Hobby, sure. Job, no.

We don't need to quibble over the definition of retired. We're talking about a down-shift from whatever 30-year grind you've been on to do something that sparks joy and brings less stress. Monetizing a hobby is ideal. If a doctor leaves the practice of medicine after 30 years and now works in a knitting store a couple days a week...for all intents and purposes, she's retired.

This^. Majority hates their jobs and retirement makes them able to escape that.

Go back to school for a MSW, and then work part time as a social worker.

I am finding I miss work and could use a bit of extra income.

I’ve applied to some jobs but I suspect age discrimination is coming

If you are working post retirement, what do you do? I do not want a job where I am required to stand all day.

Just curious what jobs others are doing.

Thank you.
