Bitcoin is the revenue of international digital crime minus the very high financial services fees charged by the network. As long as corrupt and incompetent governments allow unchecked international crime, Bitcoin will be profitable.

Best you can do is shun cryptoheads from poltie society, which shouldn't be hard because they are usually the worst people you know.

Hahahaha

That's a negative EV activities work. Some people get lucky. The more some people win, the less it's worth to everyone else.

We are headed for the rug pull of the century as soon as the grifter in chief dumps taxpayer money into the scam on his way to the morgue or prison.

Hey guys, I won big at the casino last weekend and I'm wondering if I should increase my investment going forward. Seems like a stable investment!

lol Bitcoin has a bigger market cap than like Amazon, Microsoft and a few others combined. It’s at 3 trillion dollars. The tulip craze lasted for less than 5 years and collapsed, if that’s the comparison you want to make. Bitcoin has been around for close to 20 and keeps rising and falling and rising. It’s digital gold. It’s internet magic money. I don’t give a fk what some cautious housewife on here says. I’m in it! My bitcoin ETFs are crushing your VTSAX. The dividends each month from my BTCFX are destroying your return on VOO. With the inflation coming, it’ll prob go up more as an alternate asset class like gold.

I wonder what you think the implications are. For me it's just blatant evidence of a Trump pump-and-dump scheme, there's no real reason for it or benefit to it (well, except to potentially weaken the dollar which is great news for "billionaires" with millions upon millions in debt).

Bitcoin was supposed to function as a global currency untethered from any other currency, nation, or politics and it has become a political darling/plaything of the right. Anyone who truly believed in the idea of Bitcoin should be really troubled by how tethered to the stock market it has become become since 2020.

To answer OP's question we have a "slot machine" amount invested - like the upthread PP said it's speculative so it can be exciting/fun to have some skin in the game and follow the news about it, but it's not wise to go all-in on tulip bulbs.

"Invest" as much as you would in Las Vegas in the slot machines, it's the same kind of activity - speculation, not investment. Sometimes speculation pays off, but most often it does not. Few wealthy people become wealthy through speculation.

Wow. That’s quite a shift. People typically see Bonds as Fixed Income and view it as a constant. Crypto is the opposite as it is so incredibly volatile.

Thank you for writing this. I hope more people listen to you. I know plenty of people who stay away from crypto and even stocks. All of them are broke.
They see me getting richer and retiring very early while they are still working in their 50s and complaining about work.
I decided that they like to work and I just zoomed out.
They have this black and white thinking that seems so safe to them. Gray doesn't exist.
