A protection plan isn't for when your child is irresponsible and dumps water on it. If my child does that, he can figure out how to replace it. He wouldn't do that because he has been raised that I'm not made of money and if he screws up his laptop because he is irresponsible, he can buy another one. Heck, he has more money than I do from his summer jobs.
No a protection plan makes sense on an item this costly .
Don’t lecture me on finances or your moral crap. I didn’t say the kid should not pay however accidents happen .
Don’t buy a Mac if you can not afford to replace it moron there are hundreds of other laptops that will just as well.
Your young adult it isn’t fantastic because you make them work.
If my kid spilled water on their lap too they wouldn’t have called mommy to replace it like yours would have. Mine would have done that themselves without involving me. Ie solving their problem like the adult they are,

Oh please. My kid knows better than to call me to ask for another computer. He would've found one himself and paid for it. Mine makes his own money and can buy another one. The OP's kid dumps water on his and she'd buy him another one. The majority of posters on DCUMs would. Their kids don't even work because they are too busy building their resumes to work. My kid likes making his own money and thinks it's crazy that kids in his college get allowances from mommy and daddy.

protection plan makes sense for college. one roommate accidentally spilled a drink on another roommates computer. another tripped downstairs and it fell out and broke. Accidents are just that and they happen to otherwise responsible people, especially at college
Exactly, think people are being overly harsh. I’m meticulous about all things and I’ve had accidents. It’s inevitable.
You will have zero spill accidents when you don’t have drinks around electronics. My 5 yr old knows that.
Tell that to all working folks off. I supply them for our company and it’s amazing how many issues come up. I wish, but not realistic.
