It's a great car, but it's a cheap Honda knockoff. We seriously debated getting one before getting our Pilot—but decided Kia's track record of quality wasn't as good as Honda's and that's why there's a price difference.
Wrong. Their perceived track record isn't as good. Honda is junk now too like everything else.
Anonymous wrote:We bought a Kia Sorrento 8+ years ago (or so, forgetting exactly) and were a little nervous about it but figured at worst it was a good transition car for a third row and if it didn't work out we could get something else at 5 years or so. Well, it's at 150K miles, and it's solidly going strong. Definitely not a low-end car.

Also KIAs are not very reliable.

But you'd be better off buying what it's a knock off of: A hybrid Honda CRV.
It’s much bigger than a CRV. It’s probably bigger than a pilot. I’ve been in one. It’s nice, but I wouldn’t expect it to last that long.

I was going to post this. KIA was the only car you could get during Covid, as they are manufactured in Alabama.
So people like us bought them, and it turns out they are surprisingly good cars, so friends and neighbors who I saw our Telluride/rode in it ended up buying them too.

Nope - I knew immediately which car the post was about. People love it because it has 3 real rows without being as ungainly as a Suburban or tacky like an Escalade. Tellurides were on some insane backorder list a couple years ago because there aren’t other cars like it. Wealthy families have one for the nanny or for carpools, they aren’t looking for longevity and don’t care about the brand being low end.
