It's a chicken and egg situation. If it paid like a real full-time job, you'd get way more good candidates running, and they'd treat it like a real job and give it their full-time attention and focus.

Long overdue that we lobby the state to change the salaries, and lobby our local electeds to call for it as well (practically speaking, this will likely be a key factor.)

Well, if it's set by the state, it is what it is. But personally, I wouldn't want to be a human punching bag for the PTA/DCUM crowd for 25K/year.

If they'd done right by MCPS they wouldn't be.

What's the inside on what's happening, is she wanting out or is she quietly being asked out? She asks questions and tries to get clarification. But it's like an open secret that you don't question mcps and don't followup in things. Over the decades, it's usually been the same. No wonder parent groups are heavily involved.

Silvestre recuses herself from any board votes relating to MC, and the relationship between MCPS and MC has been in place long before she was on the board. If voters disapprove, they are of course free to vote for her opponents.

On contracts with MC.

Then she votes on the final budget which includes the Montgomery College contracts.

And, she can heavily influence the others, which she does.
