In AU Park for K-8, it’s well more than half. Can’t speak for the other neighborhoods. HS sees more private.

Shepherd Park

I think you should look at the Woodside/North Woodside/Montgomery Hills/Linden neighborhoods in Silver Spring. All are wonderful neighborhoods for families that do a lot of social activities. Woodlin Elementary school is the neighborhood school and also has a great community.

There are a lot of private school kids in Somerset.

But majority or close to it are in public, and young/new families mostly seem to be planning on it. A lot of families went private in the pandemic and didn't want to put kids through yet another transition.

Maybe Falls church city public schools would be good for you. Are you ok with a new construction TH or a SFH house built in 1960s.

+1. The Hill is a lovely little “town” within DC. Not only do my kids walk to school, but I walk or bike to work, for grocery shopping, for doctors appointments, etc.
