The nyc HS options are so terrible and stressful. So I wouldn’t do it unless there was a reasonable commute from westchester or NJ. Some people even commute in from dutchess county on metronorth (like beacon where the houses are still pretty afffprdable).
I think it would also depend on whether you e got a house here that you bought when interest rates were low and are in a decent school district If you have that, and are living comfortably at 260k, I’d be reluctant to give that up. If you have to pay private school in NY, that 200K difference (closer to 100K after taxes) will disappear fast. (Although if you are catholic there are some decent Catholic HS options that are cheaper).
OP makes 460k, affordability is not an issue. She can do Larchmont + public school that’s 30 min on the train, or new Rochelle + private.
What’s the point of living in New Rochelle and paying for a private school?
If you are going to suffer the commute then live in Bronxville, Scarsdale, etc. and go public.
Bc many my successful colleagues (MD of trading) live there? How bad can it be?
Some of them even live out there in Katonah.
Scarsdale has small lots and feel crowded, with recent influx of tiger parents. I didn't choose Scarsdale for this reason.
OP can’t afford private schools.

You likely were able to afford the life you want at 105k. I am super insecure about money. I mean I would move to mars for another 200k 😂

Similar job but different company offering me 460k salary but I would have to move to nyc
Bonuses are 100k-200k. 100k here. 200k possibly nyc but bonuses are never guaranteed.
Should I consider moving there? Middle and high school age kids here.
