Subject: How many days in Athens?
We were in Athens and Crete in n June and did 3 fall days in Athens (1 day city, 2 day trips to Delphi and coast). I could have stayed at least a full week and regret we did not have more time in the city! Tons of great stores and shopping near where we stayed that I didn’t get a good chance to check out. I’d say it’s comparable to Rome and definitely better than Paris!

Greece in general has tons of history, you'll miss so many interesting places if you focus too much on museums in Athens.
Why are you assuming learning about Athens only involves museums? What are the best places in Greece for those who love history?
Not the OP, but which historical sights do you recommend in Athens with kids? My youngest has a very short attention span for museums, so would love to hear other ideas. We were planning on spending 2-3 full days but the more I read the more I'm questioning that.

For reference I was not a fan of crowded and busy Rome. I don't usually like big cities (except I love Paris) so I didn't leave much time for Athens and wished I had!
Thanks! That Airbnb is not available for our dates but really helpful to know about the neighborhood in general- I've been having a hard time working that out.

I think it’s basically the ones listed here in various comments plus you can add Crete if you want an island (spend a morning or afternoon at Knossos).
