I agree with pp. A large portion of this country no longer rely on MSM for news. We have seen time and time again that they are wrong - intentionally or unintentionally - and we now pay closer attention to independent journalists who actually do the work that MSM USED to do. People like Natasha Bertrand are pretty much ignored because she seems to rely on sources that have exposed her incompetence over and over.
I look at many of the journalists who were part of the MSM during Trump's first term and they are now gone.
Jim Acosta, Mehdi Hasan, Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, Chris Matthews, Brian Williams, Terry Moran, Joy Reid..... just a few listed here.

I will add that Fox often has twice as many viewers as their closest competitors. As much crap as people here say about Fox, there is a reason they have a much greater viewership.......their reporting is far more accurate and thorough than others.



Fox News? The company that lost the lawsuit to Dominion due to fake news reporting? The one that ignored the stock market crashing when Trump implemented Tariffs vs every other media outlet? The one that ignored and did not report the DOGE staffer having been fired from their last job for leaking proprietary info? To say Fox News is accurate or balanced is laughable and I DO read Fox News for comparison.


DP to add, what I will say is that by size and share, Fox News IS the MSM and in terms of the MSM deliberately slanting information or not reporting information, yes the MSM (aka Fox News) ABSOLUTELY does that!

Several of you are missing the point. There are plenty of threads to debate the bias and competency of our press. But surely we all agree that adults (and kids!) should not participate in discourse by calling another person stupid on international tv? If Trump was an articulate person, he could handle questions from left-leaning journalist with solid and credible answers, citing evidence and resources to back up his answer. But he can’t do that. So instead he says, “You are stupid and fake news.”

Imagine a 5th grader calling on a peer during the Q and A following their presentation like Trump:
“Oh gawd, it’s you. What’s your stupid question?”
-peer asks valid question -
“You are worthless. How dare you have the nerve to ask me that ridiculous question. You will pay for this.”

How do they work? Republicans screw up the economy and Democrats have to fix it, this has been a long term trend. Republicans are responsible for the majority of our National debt. That is a fact. They think nothing of spending up to $100M per a single military jet (which can fall off a ship) while cutting aide to needy Americans. Our military spending is fraughnt with inefficiency and waste, the Pentagon can't pass a basic audit and Trump's DOGE isn't doing much there, just ADDING to this horrifically wasteful spending at the expense of US citizens in need in the BBB We just bombed Iran and wasted how much money, only to have set them back a few months.

Only 6 months in and already 14 percent of those who voted for Trump disapprove of his running of the country in the latest Yougov poll. That is a lot of people to have buyers remorse only six months in!

Because it was fake, they KNEW it was a fake story, and they went with it deliberately to lean into a 'dark skinned bad people gonna steal and eat your personal pets.' sentiment to rile up their voters. Trump knowingly peddled this fake, unverified story on an internationally televised debate to tap into racism and paranoia towards dark skinned immigrants. And for the record, one can easily make an argument about the importance of removing criminals in our country without vetting, without this. But he had to go there and did so knowingly.

And for the record, two of my best friends are Haitian so yes I am sensitive to this particular one. It is where I anecdotally observe that MAGAs overlook his racist speech because they have few good friends who are actually Black (at least the MAGAs I know, which is quite a few, tend not to have anything beyond acquaintance relationship with anyone who is Black).


I would think minorities would be flattered to be like Obama.


I don't think that Trump did a good job explaining that other cultures like Obama's and the Haitians commonly eat dogs and cats and it is not welcoming to look down on them.


It was also a blatantly fake story and he knowingly peddled a fake story. To repeat, our president peddled a fake story, intentionally, to make a point he could have made in a thousand other respectable ways. But he knowingly ran with it to tap into paranoia.
