USA Diving also was recently in the US House and Senate talking about athlete development but i don’t believe the international piece was really discussed as the House settlement ramifications of diving being expendable to swimming was more of a focus
Someone should have Riley Gaines sink her teeth into this.

Nothing like this exists for American swimmers/divers internationally and I do believe the NCAA needs to figure out how to promote US athlete development. Perhaps international athletes should not count toward the roster limits in P4. Perhaps scholarship $ should be less. Something needs to change as many of the athletes use NCAA to train for olympics games, worlds etc...
All the Power 4 schools are state schools. Maybe not today or tomorrow, one of these governors or legislators will have someone whispering in their ear a question. Did you know, sir/madam, that our state tax dollars are being spent to fund international students to come to our schools to take slots from qualified American athletes? Then things will change.

Anonymous wrote:Respond to above, I’m not sure that’s true that ECs don’t matter - at Harvard the rule for recruiting is “the broken leg” rule, meaning the admissions committee asks “would we want this person on campus even if they broke their leg and couldn’t compete”
I’m assuming that’s true for Yale or Princeton as well. For other mid-majors and certainly power 4 it doesn’t matter
If your swimmer has Futures times and good stats, d3s are a good target. Ivies still want Winter Juniors times if not Summer Juniors at least is what we’ve been told
