It all depends on how old he is and how long he has been working. Getting fired/layed off/pushed out three times in 20-30 years isn’t a big deal. Having it happen in 5 years is another story….

Workplace dynamics can be rough on people who don't fit in.

I work with people who create pretty strategy Powerpoints but spell the words holistic and principles wrong. I can barely talk to them because acting too intelligent is grating to them. Being silent and uncomplaining about how they marginalize me and accepting the strange mishmash of tasks I'm given is the best I can do.

I may eventually get laid off just because I'm the person who is not like all the others. I don't quit because the employer pays probably 25% more than I could get on the open market due to my seniority.

Do you work OP? You sound cold. No paycheck means useless??

At some point, you learn to compensate for the ADHD (I have it) even without the medication...short cuts, memory aids, scheduling tricks, etc. That's important as well.

^^ DH has ADHD and won't medicate but it's the hyper-focus kind so works for him...sort of.

My husband has been fired twice and now, post-covid, I see his work style and I would fire him. He's been demoted at this current job and if he didn't have this one, unique skill, I'm not sure he'd be employed right now. The thing is, he is really likable so his forgetfulness often gets overlooked and he's terrible at in-office politics and he works with a LOT of old boomers who don't want to modernize. I think he just tells them all the reasons why they are wrong without trying to convince them into changing. Anyway, we live off my salary so if he lost his job, I'd call him a trophy husband and send him recipes for dinner ideas. I really want that for us.

Could he have undiagnosed ADHD?

With all the tech available why isn’t he putting in deadlines, reminders, etc?

Managing tech is an another executive function that he is likely failing at.
