For 10 kids, it should cost $100 or less, especially you get the chips/candy and drink at Dollar Tree
Why does a 10 year old need a gift to take home from a party??
They don't need to, but it's a fun way of saying thank you and recognizing a friendship. Is it extra on top of the party? Sure. Is it a terrible thing? No. And I totally agree that chips and a $5 donut gift card would be appreciated. My kids would love it.
Not a fan of the $5 donut gift card to a donut place I don't regularly visit. Worse than trinkets I can throw out five minutes after the party ends, i.e. as soon as my kids tire of them.
Op-- keep it cheap and don't spend too much time thinking about this imo. Fill the bag with something your kid likes and you guess others might too. Nothing is going to be universally well recieved, and that's ok! Some kids will and that's good enough.
