Can we add to that the trend of grown adults saying things like "comfy" and "yummy"? You sound like toddlers.
Hmm, I don't love those words but they don't annoy me the way "girlies" or "littles" do. If another mom used the words "comfy" or "yummy" in conversation with me, I might find it a little weird but it wouldn't annoy me. But when people refer to kids as "littles" or grown women as "girlies" to me, I get really annoyed.
I think the distinction for me is the cutesy nature of the terms. Littles and girlies are social media trends. Whereas comfy and yummy are just slang terms that have been around time. When I think of littles/girlies, I think of vapid 20 somethings on Instagram adopting these cutesy voices and using lots of hashtags. When I think of comfy/yummy, I think of my 70+ mom putting on pajamas at 6pm and having ice cream after dinner. It's not cool but it's not really cringe to me.
