Anonymous wrote:This seems like a moment where your relationship moves more into an adult child relationship with a parent. The fact that she calls you, disgusting is about her own immaturity and need to reframe her thoughts about you and about sexuality. How does she think she was created in the first place?! I would talk to her about the fact that sexual needs are part of adult life, and how now that she is older and getting more independent, you feel comfortable expanding parts of your life that had been on hold. I would also let her know that you have been seeing this person for a while and it’s not some rando one night stand that you dragged home. She is upset because she thinks you’re being a cougar or something like that, then you can explore ideas about sexuality, sexism, double standards, and things along those lines. I would treat this as an opportunity over the course of the summer.
But also, going forward, make sure you know when she is working and make sure to lock your door! (Didn’t she see your friend’s car in the driveway or something?)

If you really feel you must talk about it with her, I'd say something like "even women my age still enjoy sex," and "I tried to avoid that issue during your high school years, but I'm not ashamed of my sex life and never wanted you to be either."
OP' may be real. I know people who went through very similar things.
NP.
This topic is far too common all over DCUM for all of them to just be fake or trolls.
Truth is: kids walk in. It happens. Usually much younger kids, which is why the OP’s situation is fine; not more to explain or do. In a year, her and DD can laugh about it.
