If you are set on a bracelet, I’d go with something more dainty like a tennis bracelet or a gold rope.

Do not buy diamond studs for this purpose. Diamonds--other than an engagement ring--are not for daytime wear. She should not be wearing diamond studs to the office.

This is outdated advice. I and plenty of other women in the corporate world wear simple diamond studs daily.

Just because you do it, doesn't make it right. It is not outdated. It is tacky for the office.

I bet you still wear pantyhose too...

No, I do not. I have not worn them since I was in my early 20s in the late 90s, when it was still fashionable to do so. They are somewhat out of fashion now--and just unattractive so I don't. The other things I don't wear: Diamonds to work or white after Labor Day and before Memorial Day. Some rules just don't go out of style.

Sorry, no. You don't get to decide which outdated fashion rules are in or out.

And the whole white after Labor Day is rooted in classism and racism... the more you know

Please. That poster, anyone else, we all get to decide which fashion rules are in and out. For ourselves. To each their own. I wear diamonds at the office. But I don't wear white after 9/1. To me Sept is fall. I do wear panty hose and thick tights during cold months bc I solely wear dresses and skirts year round. However I do take out spring wear starting April 1st. But j reserve sleeveless outfits until June 1st onwards. All sleeveless outfits are put away on August 31st.

And stop being so woke about the whole classism racism thing with white clothing. It's passe. And before you tell me I am racist, I'm Asian American.

Asians can’t be racist?

I would go with your instinct and buy her the enamel bracelet. What a thoughtful husband you are for putting so much care into your wife’s birthday gift🌷Where are you taking her?

Traditional pearls are so boring, over, and smack of Junior League wannabes.

I don't think there are any "Junior League wannabes." No one has wanted to be in the Junior League since the 20th century.

NP. You’re at least 60 with this “fashion advice.” No one younger than that is even talking about Labor Day.

I don't think so. I think they are at least 70... and lying with this "in my early 20s in the late 90s" stuff. Or they are just making stuff up (usually the case around here).

I've worn my diamond stud earrings every day since they were gifted to me in the summer of 2000 -- including "to work." As do many of my colleagues.

Does she wear bracelets?

I'm a lawyer and most days I'm sitting at a computer typing and bracelets feel so annoying that I take them off.

Go to a jewelry store. Not a brand name like Tiffany or Cartier but a good jewelry store like Tiny Jewel Box and pick out something that is actually worth your money.

+1

+1
Go to tiny jewel box, mystique or Boone’s and pick out something classic. If she doesn’t love it, they’ll find something to exchange it for.
I like Hermes bangles, but they’re pretty outfit specific and only go with certain things

Wtf? Diamond studs are perfect for everyday wear. So are a lot of diamond pieces, and they’re considered classic. You sound very sheltered or conservative

I’m 51 and grew up in a country club, rule following way and I’ve never heard that you shouldn’t wear diamond earrings to an office. Where did this come from?
