There is a great YouTube channel with a British guy that tastes and reviews gins and does a fantastic job of describing each of the botanicals he can taste. Channel is called ‘No Nonsense Gin’

Sipsmith is overrated same as Hendricks, which is why it's popular with the know-nothings and a good one to have on hand.

Not that I have found yet, though I haven't searched high and low either. I just check out new ones when I come across them.

Avoid the ones with the benzoates first, as that's much more harmful than the HFCS, if one is making a proper G&T. Most people use waaaaaay too much tonic water, which has tons of sugar. Just a little splash is all that's needed, or making your own tonic water.

I find that the elderflower tonic water overpowers the botanicals of the gin. If you really like gin and want to taste or appreciate the different profiles if flavor, you’re much better using the regular plain tonic water.

We are pretentious about everything but love Tanqueray gin. The green bottle with the red stamp thing. We also stock Hendrick's. Both are excellent. More often than not we use or order Tanqueray. We don’t venture out and try other gin brands because we don’t drink that much, so we just stick with what we like. - OP

St. Germain PP here and this is exactly what we do, too. We have Hendricks on hand for others but Tanqueray is the one we actually drink. Same goes for Tito’s and Ketel.

Yeah, I keep a bottle of that garbage on hand for anyone who requests it. If someone wants it, that tells me they know nothing about liquor and to serve them the cheap stuff if they ask about other liquors.
