For three days it’s great. About 1 hour or a bit over flying time (flights are always listed as taking longer). Some great museums—ROM is really worth it, Bata Shoe Museum is fun, I hear good things about Little Canada but haven’t been. Some funky neighborhoods (Queen Street West, Kensington Market) and great food. You might be able to catch a baseball game if that’s of interest. I agree it’s not a top tourist destination and I do think Montreal is more interesting but Toronto could be lots of fun and easy for a long weekend.

Hudson Valley, Maine or Berkshires.

always someone who wants to change the question

With that short amount of time, I think it’s an appropriate question to ask. Why is leaving the country a criteria?

Who wouldn't want to leave this shithole at every opportunity they're granted?

Sorry to be cliche, but honestly, if that's how you feel, you should leave, permanently.

Honestly, just vote better.

Agreed - don't understand the drive to do this for only two days.

I'd fly. Toronto is 90 minutes. But enjoy your freedom to have a choice.

and about the same time to take a train from Toronto to Niagara Falls if that appeals

a nice getaway

If in Toronto, is Niagra Falls a must do or are there enough other things of interest in the city?

Niagara Falls on the Canadian side is worth seeing, but there’s also lots of things to do in Toronto. I have posted before about Toronto if you can search.

thanks - I found some good Toronto recs!

Seems pretty obvious why when you look at the date. Personally I don't have any desire to leave town- this is my city, f--k that guy and his fascist parade. But I understand the sentiment, and it's really not that hard or time consuming, plenty of options within 3 hour flight time.

Ha! I thought the same. We haven't decided yet what we will do. We live in the heart of DC, so fear violence.

Why not just a staycation and also it's pretty easy to make your own pound cake so you don't need a recommendation for that from a store.
/s

(so true pp)

why not just camp out in your backyard, hot dogs and smores on the campfire. done!
