Hudson Valley, Maine or Berkshires.

With that short amount of time, I think it’s an appropriate question to ask. Why is leaving the country a criteria?
Who wouldn't want to leave this shithole at every opportunity they're granted?
Sorry to be cliche, but honestly, if that's how you feel, you should leave, permanently.

Agreed - don't understand the drive to do this for only two days.

and about the same time to take a train from Toronto to Niagara Falls if that appeals
a nice getaway
If in Toronto, is Niagra Falls a must do or are there enough other things of interest in the city?
Niagara Falls on the Canadian side is worth seeing, but there’s also lots of things to do in Toronto. I have posted before about Toronto if you can search.

Seems pretty obvious why when you look at the date. Personally I don't have any desire to leave town- this is my city, f--k that guy and his fascist parade. But I understand the sentiment, and it's really not that hard or time consuming, plenty of options within 3 hour flight time.

Why not just a staycation and also it's pretty easy to make your own pound cake so you don't need a recommendation for that from a store.
