Their kids or other family will be required to pay their care. A rarely enforced Medicaid rule.

And not disabled folks? Or seniors in nursing homes? The raising numbers of seniors plus cutting Medicaid sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Most people cannot afford nursing home care. I’m in healthcare. Last I checked, they didn’t qualify for Medicaid. They might qualify for charity funds. But that didn’t answer my question.

This 40% is very likely over 65 and in nursing home or home care, or under 14 and a child unable to work.

No one pays for them to be in Medicaid, they can’t use it unless it’s a true life threatening emergency, and then it’s only the payor of last resort. They literally deport people via medevac and dump them rather than pay for treatment.
